Biekindle Textile Painting BIANCA

With Biekindle, I turn your old but cherished articles of clothing into pieces of art that you will continue to love and appreciate. So many clothes end up in landfills.

Most of these works are commissioned, making it a deeply personal journey ranging from your baby’s first outfit, to a garment of a deceased loved one, or your own garment that has traveled with your through phases of life.

All of it is a celebration where past and present come together and celebrate your life.

This particular piece, “BIANCA” is made from a white cotton antique dress that is generally used for baptism. I laid my hands on this piece during my studies at my art school. Back then I knew my other great wish was to become a mother and I have carried this piece with me ever since 2007.

Clothes are not made this way anymore. The garment has traces of embroidery, beautiful craftsmanship and details, and also traces of mending. The longer you look at this piece, the more stories there are to unravel.
